Khemic is the language spoken by the Khemic people (crazy). They live in Khutkadj, on the coast of the Great Atlantic Sea. Khemic is closely related to the neighbouring language of Reitic, as they both descended from Old Khemic, itself derived from Proto-Khemic. The language is analytic and heavily relies on an auxiliary verb to construct most sentences.
The earliest form of Khemic is referred to as Old Khemic, although this is sometimes considered distinct enough to be its own precursory language. Its earliest known attestation is in an inscription of the Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean.
Khemic phonology is well understood due to the 2119 Mercurian incident.

Stress is based on a consonantal onset hierarchy:
The first syllable with the onset that is highest in the hierarchy recieves the primary stress. For example, the stress in sskurite ("to speak") is on the first syllable, as it begins with a fricative, which is #1 in the hierarchy.
The word order in Khemic is typically subject-verb-object (SVO).
The word ssuchh and its conjugations ("to become") are used after the subject as an auxiliary verb. They are used instead of conjugating the sentence's main verb.
